Free STI Medication Program

Publicly-funded medications to treat Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are available through Ottawa Public Health (OPH). These medications can be ordered to stock your clinic or on a case-by-case basis to treat patients. This service includes access to a public health nurse to assist with any questions you may have.

OPH will supply publicly-funded medications for:

  • Empiric treatment of suspected chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) infections;
  • Treatment of laboratory-confirmed chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and LGV infections;
  • Treatment of sexual partners of individuals diagnosed with the above infections.

By pre-ordering and stocking the medications in your clinic, you will be able to treat patients at the time of presentation. Timely treatment of patients and their sexual partners with first-line regimens helps to decrease the risk of complications and prevent further transmission and re-infections.
